Diploma in Sound Therapy - Dip.S.T(BAST)
Number of teaching days: 23
Recommended home study hours approx: 3hrs a week
Course duration: 2 years
Dissertation: 10,000 words (approx. 30 A4 pages)
This course concentrates on the use of the BAST method developed by Lyz Cooper using Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls and voice (toning and overtoning) to effect a change in the energy system. The diploma is a ‘practitioner level' training course, which means that our students are able to make an informed diagnosis of a client's energy system and be able to treat the imbalances that present themselves. Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course it is our aim that students will:
- Have a good standard of knowledge of the BAST method of sound therapy
- Be sensitive to energy changes facilitated by sound within their own system
- Be aware of how to help facilitate energy changes in others
- Be able to make an assessment of the imbalances in their client's energy system and give
an appropriate treatment to meet each client's needs
- Be able to support their clients through their healing journey in a professional and
supportive way
The First Year
In the first year students will be required to attend college for one weekend a month from
February to December (excluding August). During this year coursework will be set and some
case studies will be completed. The theory examination is held at the end of the first year. During the first year we will cover a wide range of subjects within the sound therapy field that we hope will provide our students with a wide knowledge and skill base from which to base a successful thriving practice.
The Second Year
The second year of the diploma course is largely dedicated to home study. In
addition, a one day module will be held in January (following the theory examination) and a weekend in
December. Case studies will also be completed as well as a dissertation of approximately 10,000
words (approx. 30, A4 pages). The practical exam is held at the end of the second year.
