The gong is one of the oldest musical instruments and is the fore-runner to the bell and Tibetan/Himalayan singing bowl. It is a wonderful tool for helping to improve health and wellbeing. When you receive a gong therapy treatment you can feel the soundwaves travelling through the body, gently helping to remove imbalances on all levels of being. The gong contains multiple harmonics, allowing the listener to be carried on the soundwaves and promoting deep relaxation. The BAST method of Gong Therapy was developed by Lyz Cooper. At BAST we use more than one gong when treating people, which, when played together create a myriad of tones providing the receiver with a wonderful experience. Gong sound is perfect for dense energy imbalances and we have had excellent results with people recovering from a wide range of symptoms from stress-related conditions to chronic pain and arthritis. For further details about how the gong can help you, or if you would like to train to be a gong therapist, please contact us.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course it is our aim that students will:

  • Have a good standard of knowledge of how to work with their chosen instruments within the BAST system
  • Be aware of which instruments to use for the appropriate symptoms/energy states
  • Be sensitive to energy changes facilitated by sound within their own system
  • Be aware of how to help facilitate energy changes in others
  • Be able to assist their clients through their healing journey in a professional and supportive way

Foundation
As soon as your membership onto the course is accepted you will be able to attend the next foundation weekend. This weekend gives you all you need to know regarding sound and the energy system before joining the module of your choice.

Modules
Each module is held on one weekend a month for three months. You can tailor make your qualification to suit your individual needs (choose three of the five modules below). To obtain this qualification students are required to complete three modules within 12-18 months, as well as complete the required case studies and coursework.

Mantra Therapy
Sanskrit mantra has been used to help improve health and well-being for thousands of years. This powerful and effective treatment is perfect if you love using your voice. During this module we will cover: Bija (seed) mantras; using a mala; Sanskrit chakra massage; chakra activation; distant mantra therapy; anatomy and physiology of the voice and vocal development and much more.

Gong Therapy
The gong is very good for helping with a wide range of symptoms including chronic pain, arthritis and other physical conditions as well as many stress related symptoms. During this module we will be looking at different gong playing techniques; breath-work; holographic gong work; posture and stance; choosing, cleansing and programming your gongs.

Tuning Forks
The tuning forks are very effective tools for energy re-patterning and working with specific issues. At BAST we teach a system developed by Alan Sales of the Institute of Cyberkinetics using the tuning forks with basic kinesiology to help to balance the system. Training will cover the use of different sets of tuning forks which will give the therapist a wide range of tools to use for most symptoms.

Drum Therapy
Drum therapy is a powerful, non-invasive way of working with a range of symptoms. During this module we will cover drum journey work; interactive drum work with your client; chakra balancing and drum massage. You will also make your own drum and rattle for therapeutic work.

Sound Essences
Harmonia Sound Essences were developed by Lyz Cooper and are complementary to any of the above modules. We will cover the use of Chakra, Mantra and Planetary essence collections as well as the Sacred Space Mists and Harmonia CD’s. Basic kinesiology is used to assist in the selection of essences as well as professional judgement.
