B.A.S.T. Professional Training
Professional Training Courses for the
Sound Therapists of the future
|

The British Academy of Sound Therapy was founded by Lyz Cooper
in 2000 and was the first establishment in the UK to offer
a professional training course in sound therapy.
BAST is affiliated to the Institute for Complementary Medicine
(ICM), The British
Complementary Medicine Association (BCMA) and the Complementary
Medical Association (CMA) - giving your qualification credibility
and support. These affiliations will also provide you with
and up to date information with regard to the latest developments
within the holistic health field.
Our courses bring thousands of years of knowledge, together with new science, Lyz Cooper’s work and the results of our research at BAST to create dynamic and transformational courses which embrace and nurture mind, body and spirit. There is no official entry requirement to join our courses and no previous musical experience or knowledge is necessary. To ensure a high quality of teaching and learning our courses are limited to fifteen students, with at least one tutor and one assistant to each class.
At BAST we are committed to providing a high standard of education during the course as well as ongoing support, aftercare, supervision and continuing professional development (CPD). Our aim is to help students to become reflective practitioners and therapists using a range of exercises that encourage and develop self awareness. We also aim to facilitate a space where students can explore sound and how it can help to improve health and wellbeing, allowing each student to hone and develop the skills needed to facilitate the process in their clients.
The modules incorporate a healthy mix of theoretical and experiential work. We like to make learning fun whilst still being highly informative and we aim to support each student to develop and hone the sensitivity required to facilitate the movement of energy throughout the system using sound.
Sound therapy is a very effective and powerful ‘wholing’ modality. It has changed people’s lives and given many of our clients relief from their symptoms which in some cases have been long term and chronic.
At present we run two professional training courses at BAST – a Diploma in Sound Therapy and a
Certificate in Sound Therapy. Both qualifications enable you to
practise sound therapy in a safe and supportive way.
